Project: Electron Beam Welding Control Software Show details...
Electron Beam Welding (EBW) Software is based on open architecture of automation systems for Machine Tools from Siemens corp. The software is aimed at controlling the entire process of electron beam welding, providing its real-time display on a monitor and a detailed welding report on each particular welding make. EBW Software offers the operator to create 3D workpiece image and part program using GUI
The software system features the following capabilities:
1. Protection from un-authorization access to the welding equipment;
2. Representation of the inner-tube state;
3. Selection of the type of the object (workpiece) to be welded;
4. Setting up the parameters of the workpiece;
5. Manual control of movement;

As a result of a successful deliver the time to makeup and compile a soundtrack on IMAX MPX proprietary sound system was shortened from hours to minuts.
IMAX equipment is comprised of custom made hardware and software integrated with professional sound equipment controlled by a proprietary show control system.

Project: Descriptive Supervised Optimization in High Dimensional Mixed Type Data Show details...
The goal of the project was to develop and implement a generic methodology for descriptive supervised optimization. The problem could be summarized as follows: for X domains of practically any complexity represented as a dataset of potentially 1000s of variables of different nature (parametric, equipment, time, etc) find, and describe in simple rules regions/spots in the X space where a given target variable Y (speed, yield, bin split, TPT, etc.) achieves maximum, minimum, or a specified target value.
This problem was considered in the papers of Friedman, J. H. and Fisher, N. I. ( 1997, 1998), who suggested the algorithm (PRIM) of searching a set of sub regions in the input variable space within which the value of the output variable is considerably larger (or smaller) than its average value over entire input domain.
The main criticism of PRIM algorithm is in the fact that increasing the level of noise in the output variable influences the ability of PRIM to find high value regions of the underlying target function. Another weak point concerns the ability of the algorithm to perform well in the presence of many input variables (n>100). Inclusion of categorical variables makes it even slower. Even though PRIM is not as greedy as CART (for example), it still does not guarantee global solution coverage.
This work addresses the shortcomings mentioned above. The resulting algorithms are be implemented into the scalable and efficient code (C/C++), with easy to use GUI, that provide engineers with the powerful technology to solve many practical applications.
